“The paper never covers our concerts!”
My desk is routinely swirling with every variety of publicity questions from association members. What is the number one issue? …Coverage, or lack thereof, by local media. First of all, recognize that you are not alone. Arts organizations across the country are struggling to find a voice in news media. Continue reading »

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of enjoying Side Street Strutters at our Community Concert series in Bakersfield. The theatre was full of appreciate listeners who were thrilled by the talent and musicality of this fine group. The vocalist, Meloney Collins complemented this program of swing and jazz music. Wonderful way to spend an afternoon! I enthusiastically recommend this fine group, even if you don’t care for jazz that much!

Last night, I had the extreme pleasure of spending the evening listening to Redhead Express – the Walker Family at the Seaford High School, in Seaford, De.
I was so into their music that I couldn’t believe they were singing the last song so soon! They are a joy-filled family of very talented folks. I can only hope that their efforts are rewarded in something really big for their future.
Life is a song………….sing it!

The concert was wonderful…everyone was so pleasant.
The girls were wonderful…actually in the same vein as Lady Antebellum and The Band Perry. Can see them winning awards next year.
Not only are there voices satisfying but they are good looking….that Kendra? Is a plus!!
PS, The boys were a fun part of the program.

I attended your concert in Cleveland, TN last week and it was wonderful. I had also attended your concert here a couple of years ago. The concert then was good, but this one was much better to me as I felt you were much more relaxed.
Also, you had more information about the guys who got their start at the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport. I tell people that I made those guys famous. I say that because Saturday night at the Louisiana Hayride was just one of those things we did religiously. Now my friends here know I really did help make them famous.
Again, your concert was just great and with so many good memories for me.

Jason was back again to West Sound Entertainment Assn. last night and what a show! He seemed to love what he was doing, has matured even more in his stage presence, and his enjoyment was contagious! What a delightful, talented young man. He did a lot to convince people that our community concerts are well worth supporting and then some. We thought he was wonderful three years ago and he was even better this time. All I heard as we were leaving what how much everyone loved him.
Thank you for having him available to us.

The Prima Trio was exquisite! The clarinet and violin combination with piano was warm and yet virtuosic. They filled the room with their graciousness and talent. We booked them to do an outreach concert at a public school in our town and the piano was ancient. We did have it tuned for them, but as I wiped the spider webs off the piano with an old broom and brought it forward I was horrified about the reaction that the musicians would have. When they walked up, the pianist Anastasia Dedik said: “wow!… this is a first for me” but proceeded to sit down and was able to find the soul in that old upright in seconds. As the children all set on the floor listening in complete silence they were treated to an experience they will surely remember for a lifetime.

Just a note to report that our Concerts By The Bay audience was thrilled yesterday by countertenor Terry Barber’s performance, accompanied by pianist Alina Kiryayeva.
As you may recall, Terry was kind enough to reschedule his original date with us from April 14th to April 28th to allow us to make up the 42Five performance cancelled in October by the hurricane. Not only were we pleased with his breadth of genre, but charmed by Terry’s contact with the audience. Adding to those kudos, Terry rescheduled his return flights to enable him and Alina to attend our reception for premium subscribers following the performance.
Terry and Alina chatted with our 40 plus guests, sharing their background and experiences. Our subscribers enjoy meeting and chatting with our artists as a perk accompanying premium ticket subscriptions. Terry earned 100% positive feedback from the performance. LOS should invite him back.
